I have always chosen to speak Korean with my family and I’ve always took pride in it. It’s only recently that I have started to experience this as a barrier rather than something that brings us closer together. As I grow older and have more complicated ideas and feelings to express, I am finding that the language that I have is not enough to fully and deeply express myself to my parents, and I worry that we will grow too far apart.
